Anna Martens and Eric Narioo started making wine together on Mount Etna, Sicily in 2008. They created “Vino di Anna” in 2010. They now own several hectares of old vine Nerello Mascalese, which they farm organically. They purchased an old winery and Palmento in 2010 which they have restored. They have extended the winery to bury a series of Georgian qvevri for vinification and maturation.

The unique luminosity of these mountainous vineyards and the variable, decomposed lava soils give the wines a distinct minerality and sapidity. Wines are made with minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts, no additives, no fining or filtering and little or no SO2 .  This Palmentino is crimson red in colour, fruit-driven with ripe, juicy tannins. Attractive aromas of red cherries and wild strawberries. Dry, with fresh acidity, it is medium body in structure, and has an underlying minerality, from the volcanic soils.

100 % Nerello Mascalese grapes. 50% of the blend is wine made in a Palmento; the traditional Etnean winemaking building with only a 5 day skin maceration.
30% is wine made in a Georgian qvevri, with a one month skin maceration. The remaining 20% of the blend is a wine fermented and aged in a large, used, oak botte. Drink it slightly cold with some top quality charcuterie and enjoy life !
