Born and raised in my hometown Hasselt but in the meantime grown into one of the biggest icons within the natural wine movement. ☄️Magma is his "Grand Vin". A perfect combination of depth, richness and elegance. The Magma excellently expresses the character of the Barbabecchi Soprano vineyard, which Frank wanted to bring back to the bottle as an actual wine idea.
The Magma has an intense ruby red color. In the overwhelming nose we find sweet cherry and ripe strawberry topped with a smoky perfume of lava rock and orange zest. On the silky smooth palate, the sweet fruit and beautiful minerality dominate. The combination of elegance, structure and concentration already make the wine irresistible. His wines are an authentic expression of the terroir on 🌋Etna: profound, direct, honest, generous and unconventional: wild and pure nature. Only grapes, so no factory yeasts, sulfur, filtration, wood or other additives, but meeting the highest quality standards.
Cornelissen has not only vineyards on the flanks of "his" volcano, but also olive groves and fruit orchards. If you go for monoculture - exclusively vineyards, for example - you impoverish the environment," he says. This wine is a bit more expensive but you will not regret it.
