En voiture Simone meaning “start the game” , “let’s go” 😀

For four generations, the Thévenet family has been established in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards. In the spring of 2019, Jean-Paul Thévenet will join his Morgon estate (about 3 ha) to that of Charly, the last of the lineage, who until then vinified under his name a cuvée in the Régnié appellation (3.5 ha), named Grain et Granit. They continue to promote "natural" wines, the vines of which are managed organically, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

From this remarkable wine heritage - the oldest Gamay vines are 70 years old - the terroirs are granitic with very little soil, the roots reach very quickly the mother rock which brings a minerality to this lovely red wine.

In the cellar, the vinification is done simply, with traditional carbonic fermentation, using natural yeasts. Neither fined nor filtered, the wines receive only a minimal dose of sulfur.
When young, their Beaujolais offer the characteristic fruity notes of Gamay. With age, aromas of cherry or kirsch may appear in the Morgon wines while the Régnié wines take on nuances of flowers, spices... Good aptitude for ageing.

This cuvée is a tribute to its grandparents. The granitic soil gives the wine a minerality and a tannic structure but the wine remains fruity and pleasant... To take the key of the fields!

The high-toned nose suggests an absolutely electric wine, full of delicate florals and tart berries, and the juice hits the palate like a dreamy cloud of gamay. Silky and juicy, this is a pure delight that leaves a seductive floral note on the lingering finish.
